2Succeed leads the way in Consumer Education and Employment
Everyday the Mental Health Center of Denver demonstrates that individuals can and do recover from mental illness. One way is with their 2Succeed in Education and Employment program, a vocational and re-education center at 456 Bannock Street in Denver. 2Succeed is a place that provides hope, education, empowerment and advocacy for many whose lives are affected by mental disorders.
2Succeed in Education and Employment helps consumers at MHCD recover from mental illness by helping them develop social, vocational and educational skills. Here consumers can take skill-building classes like financial management, and GED preparation to improve their social, educational and life skills.
2Succeed offers vocational evaluation, assistance with vocational goals, job placement, as well as on-the-job coaching. Classes like computer training, food service, customer service, and performing arts prepare consumers for employment.
2Succeed uses a work experience model that places qualified consumers into various employment settings among organizations and businesses. Employers such as Volunteers of America, Habitat for Humanity, Safeway and Starbucks have hired employees from 2Succeed. A team of vocational counselors provide on-going support for consumers and employers, ensuring a successful match for both.
In 2004 this nationally recognized supported employment program provided services to over 600 consumers with nearly 60% placed in employment. In 2005, we served 722 individuals and placed 463 in jobs of their choice. This is a 64% success rate. 2Succeed is open to consumers 365 days a year, 12 hours per day on weekdays, 8 hours on weekends and 4 hours on holidays.
2Succeed is just one of the many MHCD programs that enhance the recovery process by facilitating choice and offering individually tailored support that helps our consumers achieve their goals. |
